6-14-02 This morning there were well over a hundred frog eggs in tank A. I transferred more than half of them to tank E with tank water from tank A and a few plants. No gravel no air pump. I received a bit of email correspondence from T. who offered some suggestions. We may try to implement these food and housing suggestions. There are just so many eggs it seemed worth trying again rather than just letting the eggs supplement George & Jim's diet. At any rate, I'm sure we'll have tadpoles again soon. Hopefully, we can raise a few to frogs. - L

ADF tadpole 2002<- Another photo of Lucky 1/8" long from 5-16-02.

6-17-02 We have several hatched tadpoles over 15. We're using LiquiFry for egglayers for food for the tadpoles. We are also trying to grow brine shrimp to see if that works when the tadpoles are a bit larger. - L

6-19-02 I moved about twenty tadpoles to a larger plastic tank a half full 3-4 gallon tank. I added spring water, the contents of the infusoria flask, and let the tadpoles adjust to the temperature before adding them. They're still at the stage where they don't yet swim a lot. This tank will be easier to see them in and maintain a good pH by adding more spring water. I wanted to move them out of the betta sized holding tank since there was so many molding unhatched eggs & so the tadpole waste wouldn't throw off the pH. Most them are still lying at the bottom of the tank after being moved & jostled around. So, now we'll just have to wait and see if these little ones survive *crossing fingers*. - L

6-20-02 We awoke to see most of the tadpoles [about 18] have swam to the top of the water and are adhering themselves to the surface tension probably feeding. We are optimistic about the possibilities. - L

6-21-02 I missed George & Jim snuggling but their top of their tank is covered in eggs. When I cleaned their tank 6-12-02, I moved the pagoda out and a smaller fake coral shell type thing in. The holes are smaller than what George & Jim can fit in. My hope was that if any tadpoles survived in tank A, they would have plants and the coral to hide in. Tank E's tadpoles are noticeably bigger and darker. They're being fed LiquiFry a couple times a day. They are starting to swim around the tank. The brine shrimp haven't hatched yet. I have the flask in a sunny window. If they don't hatch in a few days, we'll try using a desk lamp 24/7 as suggested by T. Happy Solistice - L

6-22-02 The tadpoles last count 20 are actively swimming about the tank and eating. Each day we can see how they've gotten bigger. They look just like the photo above. - L

6-24-02 We spent late Saturday and early Sunday videotaping George & Jim in a romantic embrace as well as their actual depositing of eggs at the surface. And of course, their tank is covered in eggs. Hopefully, we'll figure out how to post this clip to our web page. Our tadpoles look great! They are swimming robustly and constantly eating. We have a light on our brine shrimp hatchery; hopefully, this will quicken our results. - L

7-2-02 Several interesting developments: Tank D frogs have been cuddling. There are two males [distinguishable by the armpit bumps] and a single female. Several unsuccessful snuggling attempts have been made in a variety of positions. Tank E's tadpole population is down to a single tadpole who had grown much larger. The deceased tadpoles sunk to the bottom of the tank. H checked their state and verified that they had perished. Our tadpole doesn't appear to like to be watched/seen. He hides in the plants if he sees motion. Our brine shrimp have hatched and we'll begin feeding them to our tadpole. George & Jim have snuggled and laid more eggs. I'm guessing that an animal that lays so many eggs so frequently doesn't have a very high survival rate. So, we'll be very excited to grow a single frog and see how he develops.   *fingers crossed* - L

7-9-02 Our tadpole keeps growing and developing. His shape is more frog like and his eyes look more like his parents. We're feeding him LiquiFry and brine shrimp. There are lots of little critters swimming around in his tank with him. H has seen him eat one of the sea critters. - L
